Dear ,
Dear What Matters Los Angeles members.
It's been a very somber, traumatic time here in Los Angeles. We hope you are all safe and our
hearts go out to those of you who were impacted by the devastating fires.
What Matters LA has an urgent request to help one of our community members, Lisa Ross. She has suffered not only the loss of her home, but the possible loss of her freedom, in a tragically unjust miscarriage of justice. Please
see details below about how we can support her this Thursday, January 30th at 8 a.m. at the LAX Courthouse 11701 S. La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90045.
Lisa has recently lost her home in the LA fires and in a separate incident, has been wrongly convicted of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.
Lisa unknowingly backed her car over an unconscious woman who died 11 days later in the
hospital. Medical records revealed that she was deaf from a rare disease that filled her brain with tumors, with side effects of fainting, seizures, vertigo and dizziness.
We would love the community support in the courthouse on her sentencing day. No one needs to do more than just be present. This is not a
protest. We don't want to inflame the judge as she has complete power over Lisa's sentencing. If you know Lisa, personal character letters of support would be helpful. If you can write a letter, please contact Yvet for @ 818-645-6000 for details.
Date: Thursday, Jan. 30
Time: 8:00 am for 8:30 sentencing
Location: LAX Courthouse 11701 S. La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90045
Room 90 Judge Melissa Hammond
Yvet will meet everyone at the courthouse entrance at 8 a.m.
